| Published 22 Dec 2008 |
| While 2008 saw global economies struggle to cope with bad news after bad news, 2009 shows some promise of recovery in certain parts of the world, despite what the critics say. And the construction industries of these regions will be require experienced construction professionals to meet their output targets.
In making a comparison of contructionjobs.ie application statistics between June and December 2008 a number of interesting trends emerge. The growth in popularity of the Middle East as a construction jobs destination should come as no surprise to anyone. In the past six months it has closed the gap on Ireland as a preferred region in which to work. We expect to see this trend continue through the first half of 2009, with the Middle East possibly overtaking Ireland before mid-year.
Construction Job Opportunities in the UK However, the UK has held strong at third spot in the constructionjobs table. With completion of the main foundations work on the London Olympic Park due by mid summer, as well as the massive Crossrail project entering a new phase of development by early summer, opportunities in the UK construction work will continue to grow as the year proceeds.

With President Elect, Barack Obama taking office in the USA in January, much is expected of the inspirational leader.
